Betsy's Roses

I love to grow herbs. I love to grow vegetables. I love to grow fruit. I love to plan window boxes and container gardens and trellises. But I really love to garden old-garden-style roses. I had a David Austen rose bush in Cincinnati called 'Evelyn'. When we moved I knew I had to have that rose again. I finally got it this year for Christmas. It arrived bare root on Valentine's Day. For at least a month now I have been harvesting constant blooms of highly scented, delicately colored blossoms. Pure pleasure! I wish I could upload the scent of these roses. It actually was created for the signature rose-scented perfume of Crabtree & Evelyn. I also like the name because it was my Grandma Bonkoski's name and I remember how she loved to garden too.
