Neighbors

We are blessed to live next door to generous and friendly retired neighbors...with fruit trees! They shared in their abundance of cherries (which Jeff and Shelley got to enjoy when they were here), and today they shared in their abundance of plums. We picked a paper grocery bag full of plums. So far I have a batch drying in my dehydrator, and Dave and Justin just finished their inaugural serving of plum preserves over ice cream (we have 5 half-pint jars full). And we still have 1/2 a bag left! Oh my :) Any ideas what to make next?

We also enjoyed our first ever peach yesterday from our peach tree that we planted earlier this spring. It was a little small but Oh. My. Goodness! It was delicious. What a treat to be enjoying so much fresh fruit fresh from the trees!

In other garden news, the orange cherry tomatoes are ripening by the handful and the lettuce has about bit the dust with the heat we had last week. Still waiting on zucchini and eggplant and peppers. It's been a strange spring/early summer so far. Good thing we have a long growing season here!
