After arriving in Minnesota and spending the night at Grandma's house, we headed out the next morning for THE CABIN! My mom, Shelley, and her girls came with us and the rest of the family came out for the weekend as they were able.
We went to the Chetek Parade on the 4th as usual (we even sat in our usual spot, a.k.a. "the uzhe" (rhymes with luge) but this time we upped the ante: we left our chairs overnight to save our spot by the street just like the locals. (Which we are. Locals, I mean. We have been going to the Chetek parade for over 20 years now after all!)
Fireworks in Rice Lake, (per the uzhe), sparklers at the cabin, plus finally finishing the box of fireworks one of my brothers bought while in high school (yes, they've been around many, many years!).
Lots of swimming, canoeing, fishing, game playing, hammock (pronounced ham-MOCK according to my nephew, Micah), and laughter (again, the uzhe experience at the cabin!).
An extra special treat was my Aunt Patty driving up with her granddaughter, Reece for one night. They added a lot of fun to the cabin time; it was great to spend time with them!
Dave and Justin also went fishing with a local guide and caught LOTS of large panfish. Yum!
