Finally Fall

The weather has finally cooled off around these parts. That has made our outdoor adventures even more enjoyable this week. We learned about water sheds, took a nature scavenger walk in our back  yard, and made yet another Nile delta model (larger than the last). Throw in a few science experiments and some snap-trap race car building, and it was another good week!

Along with ants, pill bugs, mysterious flying bugs, and bees, we found an elusive tomato hornworm on our backyard nature hunt.

We brought "Catty" in for closer observation and illustrating.

In Justin's free time he usually ends up playing with the hose in a certain spot of our yard. Today we noticed it turned into a fairly accurate model of the Nile delta! We even added a pyramid (not in this photo) on the western bank.

Justin is taking a science workshop at school. His first project was bottle rockets (I realize I never photo'd his rockets). His new project is making a self-propelled race car out of a mouse trap. He is super excited.
