We opted to reserve a kennel outside the Park for Koty as Yellowstone's rules for dogs aren't very practical. So next we headed up north through Mammoth Hot Springs and out of the Park through Gardiner, Montana. The kennel/house Koty stayed in was great. The family was very friendly, and their property is on old Indian camping grounds. They showed Justin their collection of Indian artifacts they had collected from the area and told us to check out Obsidian Cliffs, where Indians used to quarry obsidian (black lava glass that gets really sharp and the Indians used for arrowheads and knife blades).

Once we got Koty dropped off and ate dinner in town, we headed back to our camp for our first night. Little did we know the cold night that awaited for us!
