For Father's Day, Dave chose to head up to the mountains. After church we came home and got ready. Justin came out of his room all decked out and prepared for anything nature-related:

On the front you see a bird identification guide along with a full bag of sunflower seeds to feed any wild birds we happen to come across. On his back is a full pack of...I actually don't know what all went in there other than the magnifying glass sticking out!
We had a great time along the Stanislaus River. Dave and Justin fished all afternoon and Abigail (our foster baby) and I hung out on a large rock and chatted with some friends we unexpectedly ran into at the same spot. All of Justin's nature gear never even left the car. Ha Ha!!
That is definitely one prepared 8 year old! Wonder if he gets it from me and my motto: Be prepared for anything...Take everything! :)
