Keeping Busy

The past few weeks has been a blur of hot, hot weather, watching Olympics, and Justin starting 4th grade. We're slowly getting up to speed, adding a bit more each week. First came Science, Social Studies, Art, and Language. Then we added spelling and math. This week his workshops at school start, so he'll be adding in more Science, along with Pottery, Minecraft.edu, Lego Robotics, and Building Things. The last three all brand new for Justin this year now that he's in 4th grade and he's ecstatic about them!

In the meantime, a couple fun packages came in the mail recently from each set of grandparents: new shoes and clothes for Abby (who is already developing into a "girly girl" with a love for shoes and accessories...she's been spotted recently dragging bags looped around her shoulder throughout the house as her "purse") and Legos and an animal book for nature-loving, engineer Justin.

Justin was inspired by the Olympics to make pretzels into the shape of the Olympic rings:

If Abby spies her shoes lying around, she brings them to the closest person to put them on. If she spies a second pair lying around, she brings one over so she can have one of each on. And she may or may not have had a tantrum when she discovered a THIRD pair lying around the house and figured out she had no more feet left!

Justin's lunch creation one day. It's true that boredom inspires creativity!

We're headed off overnight to spend a few hours at the beach to escape this never-ending HEAT!
