It's still hot here, although the mornings have been nice and cool. Justin is several weeks into 4th grade now and I think we're through most of the transition bumps now. His second week of workshops went great. His favorite workshops continue to be Building Things (they got to deconstruct items the first week and this week they worked on building tool boxes) and Lego Robotics. He is still enjoying soccer and Cub Scouts as well.
Abby is developing into quite the spunky little girl. She is very assertive at expressing her opinions and has very clear ideas in her head about what she wants. If you ask her what she wants and start listing specific items she will either nod her head vigorously when you hit the one she's thinking of or else throw her head back with a disgusted "Aughghgh" while simultaneously rolling her eyes. I've got to get it on video; it's hilarious!
The other day Dave and I were talking on the patio and he noticed Abby pulling dirt out of a planter and throwing it on the patio. "No, Abby, we don't throw dirt on the patio," Dave says nicely but firmly. Round 2: "Abby, no! You can play in the sandbox if you want to play with dirt." Round 3: "Abby! NO!" At this point I get up and bring her over to the sandbox and dribble sand through my fingers to entice her. She looks convinced so I go back and sit down to continue talking with Dave. Abby proceeds to climb out of the sandbox, walk back to the planter, grab a handful of dirt, walk over to me, and dump it on my feet and then stands there calmly staring at me. Spunky!! HA!
Justin pulled his old trike out of the shed and adjusted the seat for Abby this week:
We rented Justin a wet-suit and boogy board and he had a blast in the waves!
