Final "Summer" Harvest

Though 'tis the 4th day of November, months are not a reliable way of tracking seasons here in Northern CA. Up until a couple days ago, we've maintained summer-like weather. My summer garden has been happily and steadily producing.

But this morning I awoke to a 39 degree reading on our outdoor thermometer. "Enough is enough" I said to myself and enlisted Dave and Justin to help me rip out the summer garden. It is, after all, almost Thanksgiving! Here is the last of the summer harvest:

Parsley ready to be blanched and frozen

Purple basil on the drying tray

Eggplants ready to be given away

Candy tomatoes ready for snacking

Seeds to be saved until next spring

Full basil jar 

(can you tell the different layers apart from store bought at the bottom and my homegrown and dried on the top 2/3?)
