Justin loves rocks. I mean, he LOVES rocks!! He spent hours outside hunting rocks with Grandma S. this past week while they were here visiting. He got a rock tumbler for Christmas, which has been "tumbling" out in the garage for 1 1/2 weeks now (only 1 1/2 more weeks to go to see the final polished rocks!), and he received a rock kit/game for Christmas that includes a bunch of different rock types with cards explaining each one.
So, in keeping with the rock theme, today for school, we made igneous rocks! We made a magma mixture of sugar, corn syrup, vinegar, and water and boiled it until it reached 300 degrees. Then we poured it out and voila: igneous "rocks"!
