Now for a quick update: our lilacs are blooming for the first time! A lady from church started a cutting from her lilac bush two years ago, and we have managed not to kill it! It looks beautiful in front of our house.
Also, the aphids have exploded. I have been using my trusty homemade soap spray to pulverize and destroy them until nature's enemies (the good guys) found them. Today, I was thrilled to see our very first ladybug! Hip hip hooray for the powerful aphid-destroyers. Hopefully they can keep up. They're a bit outnumbered at the moment.
