Final Days in Minnesota

The final few days in Minnesota were packed! We ended up taking an unexpected trip down to southwestern Minnesota to go to my Grandpa's wife's funeral (my grandpa died in 2012). It was a very small town, and a very small hotel, but the town had an awesome old-fashioned park! They also had an awesome water park that we discovered too late (oh, well...next time!).

Micah and Justin on a very old and very fast mini-merry-go-round. I remember these from when I was little. Modern parks don't have them anymore, but I saw at least 5 or 6 in Slayton!

On the way back to the Cities, we drove by Walnut Grove, which is the setting of On the Banks of Plum Creek, a book in The Little House on the Prairie set. We stopped and toured the museum. We drove right over Plum Creek. We listened to this story on the drive back to California, and it was really fun to see the actual places the book talks about!

A room full of toys like Mary and Laura used to play with. Justin enjoyed the wooden yo-yo.

Kaitlyn and Elissa dressed as pioneer girls. Kaitlyn's nightgown outfit looks more suited for a hospital stay!

Saying good-bye...

No matter how long we visit, it never seems long enough. The evening before we left, the whole family gathered at my parents' house for one last supper together.

The whole Minnesota gang!
We miss you guys!!
