Frontier Village and Theodore Roosevelt National Park

We had two fascinating stops in North Dakota (I know, who would have thought ND had anything interesting, right?!).

The first stop we stumbled upon because we needed a break, we followed the signs, and lo and behold it was even free!

Frontier Village:

Home of the world's largest buffalo. Quite the thing to be renowned for!

Theodore Roosevelt National Park (a.k.a. the North Dakota Badlands)

Justin had a great time riding with Grandma and Grandpa (and with my camera!)

We did a short hike on the Coal Vein Trail

The black stripe in the hillside is the coal vein. Sections of it were on fire for decades before it finally burned out.

This bison walked right by our car on the other side of the road. He stayed between the lines and on his side thankfully!

Justin earned yet another junior ranger badge here (#7 of the trip!)
