We chose to drive back to California via the Grand Canyon. It's right on the way, right?! The first night we stayed (for free, thanks to Dave's status as a Covenant pastor!) at a summer camp in Nebraska. It was a beautiful setting with lots of trees and a river; the fireflies at night were numerous. Justin had a great time chasing the fireflies.

Once we got to Denver, the scenery finally started getting interesting and non-midwesty (which is beautiful as well, but we'd been seeing that for the past month!). The day was overcast and hazy, and we drove through 3 heavy downpours of rain and hail driving over the Rocky Mountains.
