Grandma and Grandpa visit from Texas

Dave's parents came for a whirlwind week of fun. Both kids had a blast with grandma and grandpa. We enjoyed a trip to Monterey while they were here, too. Here are the highlights:

Justin is studying California history this year, so we toured the Carmel Mission. Here he is in front of the statue of Father Junipero Serra (considered the father of the CA missions, he founded many of them and there is a statue of him at every mission).

One of the bells that would call the Native Americans to the mission

It had been renovated, but many old and interesting features
were still there, including this old staircase.

Look at that huge tree! We aren't sure how old it is, but I would guess at least 200 years old?

Abby had fun climbing in the mission courtyard with Grandpa watching to keep her safe.

We had a bit of every kind of weather: sunny, windy, rainy, cloudy, cold, and warm

Both kids loved the beach, even in cool and cloudy weather!

Abby and Grandpa were best buddies.

Justin found lots of hermit crabs.

Abby loved digging in and scooping up the sand. She also loved throwing rocks in the water.

We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium too. So many things to explore!

Abby loved the splash zone.

I think the jelly fish exhibit is my favorite. They are astoundingly beautiful.

Justin met a cockatoo at Lovers' Point beach.

Grandma helped Abby climb up the slide.

A fabulous time was had by all! We miss you already!
