New Chicken Coop

Since Dave decided to double our flock with the purchase of 9 new chicks in April, a larger chicken coop was in order. Dave the genius has had plans in his head for a few weeks, and today was the day for the physical manifestation of said plans. Here is the progress so far:

Justin has been helping all day. It's a bit tricky because Dave is incorporating parts of the old chicken coop into the new coop so it has to be torn apart and rebuilt in one day so the chickens have a place to sleep tonight. It's coming along nicely! Our chickens have been making do with only three nesting boxes. Some mornings they are squished two birds to a box, and there is often quite a bit of fuss and squawking involved in determining who goes first! Our new coop will boast eight nesting boxes (one of which Justin is posing in above) so there should no longer be any fighting!
